MALÅ GPR equipment uncovers unknown burials at the UNESCO world heritage site Petra in Jordan

A recent excavation near Petra’s iconic Treasury has unearthed 12 human skeletons and a chamber filled with ancient grave offerings. This discovery, made possible by groundbreaking MALÅ radar technology, sheds new light on Petra’s mysterious past. The data, collected by Professor Richard Bates at University of St. Andrews in Scotland in collaboration with Guideline Geo’s Senior Applications Engineer Mike Langton, clearly shows voids and caverns and prompted the subsequent excavations which revealed the buried graves.

Archaeologists believe there are still more secrets hidden beneath this UNESCO World Heritage site. Read more about the discovery here: www.nytimes.com
