This course is designed for people who want to know more about using electrical resistivity to map the subsurface, no prior geophysical experience is required or assumed. Learn what the method can be used for, how it works and considerations you need to take when looking for a system to use, or planning a survey. The talk will be illustrated by a number of case studies and it will also cover some of the more common mistakes people make in the early days of undertaking electrical resistivity surveys. The course will also look at associated methods such as induced polarization and spontaneous potential. Comparisons and contrasts will be made with and against other technologies for particular applications including groundwater and mineral search and mapping, environmental assessments such as pollution mapping, geotechnical site investigation, and the use of the method to look at more dynamic targets over time through the use of monitoring configurations
