When: November 7, 10:00am – 2:00pm Eastern US Time
This workshop will look at workflows for processing electrical resistivity data, whether it is 1D vertical electrical soundings (VES) or 2D and 3D electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) data. It will start by looking at QA (quality assurance) of raw data and how to gauge what is worth keeping and what should be left out of further processing. This will lead on to the demonstration and actual processing / inversion of a number of example datasets, discussing the theory behind the steps undertaken which will include topographic corrections, inversion settings such as damping and choosing smooth or blocky/robust inversion, constraining models based on a priori knowledge, and refining models after initial attempts to improve the end result. The final part of the workshop will be how the data can be visualized and presented to deliver information to clients and potentially non-technical audiences. The main software packages used in this workshop will be Res2DInv with a brief look into Res3DInv and Aarhus Workbench Essentials.
Who is this for: Beginners and more experienced resistivity practitioners with limited back-office experience who want to improve their processing and inversion skills.
Where: All courses offered virtually! Course access link will be provided via email upon payment.
OPTIONAL Course Pairing – In-Person Resistivity Hardware Training – Interested in a discounted, in-person resistivity hardware training to complement Guideline Geo Academy’s Electrical Resistivity courses? Find out more about this opportunity here.
