A recent archaeological GPR study in Greece helped showing the remains of an early Christian ecclesiastical building, presumed to be a basilica likely dating back to at least 365 CE.
The results obtained from the MALÅ GPR surveys provided valuable insights into various subsurface features helping to making further investigations more efficient. The study not only demonstrates the efficacy of GPR in archaeological investigations but also underscores the significance of non-destructive geophysical methods in uncovering hidden data from the past.
The project will be presented at EAGE 2024, Oslo, Norway (10-13 June, 2024) with the title: “Using GPR to locate early Christian ecclesiastical components in Ancient Messini, Greece”.
